Writer, Inventor

You may not know it, but every time you look at a $50 note you are looking at a Ngarrindjeri man. His name is David Unaipon. As there are a few places on the net with plenty of information about this truly extraordinary man I will provide links to two of these places, firstly his entry in Wikipedia and secondly a biography from the Bangarra Dance Theatre website. Some things you may not know about Mr Unaipon... He was one of the first published Aboriginal writers. He was awarded 10 patents including one for a sheering machine. He also created drawings for a helicopter design based on the principle of the way a boomerang works. He could speak in both Latin and Greek. He was an avid scientist studying a range of subjects including astronomy, aerodynamics and physics.
